PEI Granules

PEI Granules

Quality characteristics

Polyetherimide (PEI) is a high-performance amorphous thermoplastic belonging to the polyimide family. The material is characterized by excellent thermal stability, high mechanical strength, and very good dimensional stability. PEI offers inherent flame retardancy (UL94: V-0) with low smoke generation and maintains reliable performance at elevated temperatures, with a continuous service temperature of up to approx. 170 °C.

PEI compounds and granules are suitable for demanding technical applications requiring strength, heat resistance, and electrical insulation.

  • High strength
  • Amorphous
  • Inherently flame-retardant (UL94 V-0)
  • Low smoke development
  • High temperature resistance
  • Good dimensional stability

Application

Thanks to its excellent electrical insulation properties, which remain stable over a wide temperature and frequency range, PEI is particularly suitable for applications in the electrical and electronics industry. PEI components also show good resistance to many chemicals, hot water, and hydrolysis (depending on load and environmental conditions).

PEI can be processed into semi-finished products or manufactured into complex parts using injection molding or extrusion.
